Got the Challenger working! (pics)

Wiring is always fun,even worse on newer cars.When I was working at a body shop I had to replace the whole dash/front harness on a car b/c an air bag wire was cut from the accident,what a PITA.At least now you never should have to worry about wiring problems again in that car.

Wow to much fun for me! How are there wires? Are they right to factory spec? I have thought about buying the engine harness for mine but I have always been afraid that the quality wouldnt be there..........Im glad all went well tho!

As for cost.... I'm going to guess near $1,000 for the wiring.... welll, maybe more now that I think about it.  I also had the radio restored and restored the steering column myself.  All in all, the cost will bel in the thousands to do the job right.

If Yearone didn't have what I needed, I went right to M&H Electical and had them make it.  By contract with Year One they can not sell anything they make for Year One to the public.  However, they will make stuff they don't have in stock, but it takes a long time.  http://www.wiringharness.com/  ALL OF IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE NOS!  PERFECT!!!!!!

Wanna come do my Chally for me?       Nice job!!   how much for all the harnesses?  all from year one?  how about a breakdown of what you bought, from who, who made it and how much?   that would help me out.   again...great job!!

Quality was PERFECT!  You can have them made better than factory, but I wanted everything to be STOCK.  Every wire had the right color, tracer, and connector on it.  Made it to easy!  Almost plug and play!!!!!!!

IT STARTED RIGHT UP!  I was soooooooo happy!  Everything in the car works now!  Radio, clock, lights, dash lights, defrost, heater, blinkers, reverse lights, wipers, ect......

I went bit by bit.  Numbering every wire as I went just to be safe.  Maybe that's why it went so well.  See the picture......

Curious....knowing what you know now...and whether your six pack Cuda has its wiring perfectly intact, do you leave well enough alone or replace anyhow?

I have the same debacle/issue with my Challenger and am leaning towards total replacement. Age does not do wires good, even intact ones. An engine/electrical fire will convince anyone pretty fast. Still, its hard to toss perfectly working factory wiring, even at 36 years old.

Congrats on getting good harnesses. Just because they're new, doesn't mean that they will work. I bought all new harnesses from YO and the front headlamp harness had a wire that had not been stripped back before the end was crimped on. Took a while to find that problem. Glad I attended those GM factory wiring classes now. Just to be on the safe side, I eliminated my amp gauge as well. They cause more problems than anything else, even with new wiring.

I can tell you what I'm going to do.... Put all new wiring in the 6 pack Cuda.  No dought in my mind.

Every car is different and the wires have been exposed to all kinds of weather and conditions...... Look them over real good before making up your mind.
