Hello everyone,
As some have seen in my past posts I have had some eletrical issues with my Challenger. If I had to guess I would say that I drove it 10 miles before the wiring problems stopped me from driving it. I felt like a total douche bag for buying the car without seeing it. How many times has someone told you to not buy a car without looking at it first!!!!!!!!
After much thought and direction from members on this site I started to replace ALL wires in the car. That ment the dash harness, engine harness, speaker harness, rallye gauges, rear lighting harness, front lighting harness, A/C harness, rear defrost harness, all wring in steering column (complete steering column rebuild) and the A01 lighting wiring. WOW.... there was a lot of wires in this car. I have NEVER wired anything before in my life!
Most of the wires were bought from Year One and made by M&H wiring.
Well, tonight I plugged in the last wire in the bulk head and hooked the battery up..... After months of learning how to use a meter and studying wiring diagrams ..... My heart was beating so fast! If there was a problem now, it was going to be my fault!
IT STARTED RIGHT UP! I was soooooooo happy! Everything in the car works now! Radio, clock, lights, dash lights, defrost, heater, blinkers, reverse lights, wipers, ect...... I can't say enough for the manufacture of the wires. They were perfect and matched the factory diagrams to a T. The one page color wiring diagram that was talked about on here was great too. If anyone has ever thought of taking this type of job on, I'm here to tell you that you can do it! Just take your time and it's all possible.
Anyway..... I thought I would just share another story on how this site helped me do something for the first time. And a lessoned learned.... well, the lesson is a hard one to learn. I bought another car sight unseen and will post pics soon.
