Need E body pistol grip shift lever
« on: August 18, 2006 - 04:28:05 AM »
I need E body pistol grip shifter, not whole unit, just the part that bolts in right under the floor with two bolts, if anyone has one with the plastic or wood grip and top with the R1234 on it, I need one.  The guy I got my Cuda from THREW THE ORIGINAL ONE AWAY!!!  years ago when he changed the shifter!  I worded the other post wrong, but I may get a good deal on a plastic or wood handle someone replied about.  If anyone has a shifter I can afford, let me know I sure would appreciate it!  And it doesn't have to be in perfect condition.  jdshepherds@sbcglobal.net

BB4spdman,   Gunslinger was selling brand new handles with the bezel and grips for $160 at the Mopar nats.  It had the same small HURST stamping as the original.   Tony's right across the road was selling the same handles for $225.  Funny thing is that Tony get's them from Gunslinger (Jason).
I even saw used junk handles going for $275 in the swap meet area.

Find Gunslinger's website. he also advertises in MCG. This is the guy that supplies the shifters to Hurst and makes all of the shifters around.  These are BRAND NEW exact reproduction handles.  Why buy a used one?

Has the small HURST, not the large HURST. As for Taper? It looks like my original ones and I have 2.   He doesn't make the clip in style only the bolt-in.

The handle tapers down to a smaller thickness between the grip area and the HURST logo. You can see the top edge dropping down in this pic.

Hmm, Don't know about the Taper, he'll have to e-mail that question to gunslinger when he inquires about it.

These are BRAND NEW exact reproduction handles.

They are not exact, they "look alike" is about where it ends, most of the details are wrong.

If you want an OEM look you'll need to find a mint original or restore an original using NOS or Harms reproduction Pistol Grip parts, nothing else comes close. I'm not trying to brag, it's just the way it is.

Do you sell complete pistol grip 4spd handles?

Well, not exactly.

While we do make complete and physically accurate Pistol Grip handles, we do not make or sell the handles with the "HURST" stamped in the side because Hurst (Mr. gasket now) will not license us to do so. The reason is that they allready have a vendor which is Gunslinger who manufactures ALL of the licensed HURST handles you see for sale now regardless of the source.

What we offer are the only accurate replacement parts made, these allow you to buy a handle with worn grips, top lens, upper and lower chrome bezels, etc., strip it down to the bare shaft, have it re-plated, and add our parts.

What you will end up with is an ACCURATELY restored handle. Other "re-build" kits on the market are less expensive but the parts themselves differ from originals significantly.

That`s what I thought. If you don`t need a perfectly corect piece the repros are fine but for a 100% resto you need my original! j/k   :roflsmiley:
