    This one's been apart since 1997. I've been so busy building other people's cars as well as mine and my wife's cudas that I've never had the time to finish this one. I bought the crate hemi for my 71 cuda but decided to just put it in this car. I have to admit that I'm surprised at how well the hemi starts and runs. This car is a blast to drive. Too bad that it's been so hot here lately. I can't wait for the temps to drop down out of the 100's so that we can actually drive this thing a little. I'll try to get some more pics of it this week and post them. I bought this car in 1996 for $2800. It was a 318 3-speed and was originally go-mango orange.

    Thanks for the compliments. As for the first drive, it was a little intense. When absolutely everything is new, you can't help but expect something to go wrong. The motor ran a little rich, the Lokar down-shift cable was out of adjustment, the brake light switch was sticking and the lower radiator hose started leaking a little due to the corbin clamp not being tight enough. Now everything's much better. If the daily temps will get down out of the 100's, I can drive it a little more. The car drives different than either of the cudas and definitely much different than any of my
    b-bodies.
    NZ, did you notice much difference between the way the chally drove and the way that the cuda drove?

    It's hard to say really. The Challenger being a big block, it of course was front heavy, you could definitely tell you had something up front. The 'Cuda on the other hand is lighter and overall felt like a smaller car and viewing it from the outside confirms what you feel when driving it, it just looks smaller than the Challenger.

    I know they're 2" shorter in the base but, it seems like a lot more than that. When I took the 'Cuda down to the river for some photos they have some nice curves and "rally" type corners I got up to some respectable speeds and it drove & handled very nicely. Also, the Cuda is "iffy" and needed some touch ups, including a full trans rebuild and some other items which needed addressing.....should be interesting to see once it's completed late November.

    Once again, lovely, lovely Challenger my friend.  :cheers:

    Since most real hemi challengers were non shaker cars, I decided to build it that way.  My wife loves the rallye hood on the chally. I wanted a shaker hood for the chally originally, but decided to install one on my 71 cuda instead.  I had to alter a fiberglass air grabber base for the single 4 barrel intake. I have an nos 2-4 hemi intake but I'm saving it for my cuda when I put a hemi in it later. I'm storing the car at the dealership and will try to take more pics this week.
