Awesome!!!
How long did it take you and your wife to decided if the Go-Wing should be black, or, body colour?
Back when I built my 71 cuda I ordered new bumpers and they never arrived. I decided to paint them so that I could start showing the car and I would just change them out later for the chrome ones. I decided to go with a mono-chromatic theme and just paint the wing to match. The plan was to change the wing color to black when the day came to change the bumpers. I got so many compliments on the overall look that I never changed it. I keep thinking about painting the shaker red to match everything else, but haven't gotten around to it yet. When I was prepping the convertible wing to paint it black, my wife insisted on painting it yellow to go with the same type of theme as the cudas. Since the car isn't exactly original, I figured why not. Her cuda has the wing painted body color as well so it's kind of been a trademark around here. I like them either way, but the body color is kind of different. If our cars were numbers matching, I would paint the wings black of course.
I found another 70 style challenger dash bezel and mounted Autometer gauges to better monitor the temp, oil pressure and fuel level. I'm going to do this to my other cars as well. I do still have the original gauges for this car though.
I would like to say that I enjoyed building this car, but I didn't. It was apart for so long that I had a hard time remembering where all of the parts were stored. I had moved the car twice and that made it even more difficult. Add to that the fact that my memory isn't what it used to be and that spells disaster. I had to make myself finish this car because I knew that I wanted to start on the daytona stuff as well as my wife's bird clone. My wife kept reminding me..."first things first". At least I have more room in the shop at home now. Now for the bad news. I really need to sell this one to finance other projects. It's so hot here in Arkansas in the summer that you really can't enjoy a convertible much. We tend to drive the two cudas whenever we go to cruises or shows so this one is kind of an extra car. I'm going to try to take it to an auction in Dallas in November after we get back from sema. I'll set the reserve conservatively at 75 K. I think that would be a bargain for a car like this where absolutely everything is new. The plan is to work my way down to just four cars, the two cudas, the bird clone and the daytona clone.
