AMC = American Motors Company. They used different engines, trans and parts from the big 3 manufacturers.
They were a "hybrid" car if you please. A cousin to MoPar if any though.

to be more specific, Chrysler bought AMC in the 80's, so when the Gremlin. Javelin and AMX came around, they were their own entities entirely..but since bought later on, they are kinda the 'red-headed step-child' of the MoPar community.  Accepted at the functions, but they gotsta sit at the kiddy table.

AMC's are the red-headed stepchilds of MoPar, but some of their cars are quite impressive. (and were unique just like MoPar muscle cars.)  Oh, and it's cool to know they were originally made here in Wisconsin. (Kenosha)

Don't forget Austin and Willy's. They too are under our wings. What other companies did Chrysler purchase. good trivia thread.

Well... they did use a 360 engine didn't they :bananasmi- but I bet it wasn't the same as Chryslers. I had a friend who years ago pulled his 360 out of his mint 1970 AMX and put in a 340 with 727 out of his ragged out duster. Could you call that "Amopar"? Gary

I think Wiilys was originally bought by AMC.  When Chrysler bought AMC, they inherited the Jeep, that is the only one of AMC vehicles that is still produced.

Mitsubishi !

Mitsubishi has produced a lot of cars sold under the Chrysler label, starting with the Colts of the '70's, I think.  Even my '97 Sebring convertible shares the same platform with the Eclipse.
