Oil Pressure gage---73 cuda with rallye dash
« on: August 27, 2006 - 09:39:51 PM »
Yet to install the oil pressure sending   unit.....have redone  all the under hood  wiring  but no 'obvious'  wire for the oil pressure gage.  For the rallye  dash  was it a separate  wire  so that it may be under my dash  somewhere  or does it go thru the fire wall main  plug group? Am I  better off to put  an aftermarket gage  as far  as something  more accurate?  What  color of wire  is it? Also  if  I  want to put  the electric  wiper motor bottle  in my  car  is there a wiper switch  with the push  feature to activate the washer pump?

Note to MEKrunner......what  is the steering  wheel  you have in your Challenger......is the mount  custom machined ,  nice  job.

the wire is a light grey , it goes through the bulkhead connecter & should have a female spade lug near the dist

   :iagree:

Also, if you are converting from a standard gauge setup to the Rally gauges, you will need a different oil pressure sending unit.

cuda-cable,

My steering wheel is a Grant steering wheel with the Dodge symbol in the middle of it. Grant also makes a crush-can adaptor to install it on an E-Body. Thanks for the compliment.

What about aftermarket pressure gauges? I have an Auto Meter oil pressure gauge and sending unit, and it does not clear the back of the manifold (Hemi) because of its size, not lower profile liek MP. Can I extend the plumbing so that I can clear teh manifold or does that defeat the purpose? Will oil travel up extension and give me a true reading? On the Autometer site they have both extension adapters and angle adapters. but don't want to assume all is fine and ruin the engine

the pressure is equal anywhere in the oil system so using an extension is fine
