I found the Alaskan name for "bigfoot" as well, I was not sure how to spell it so it took a while - Kushtaka

Locally pronounced  koosh - te -ka (soft e on the middle syllible)

Jeez, all those names a pretty wimpy for a staunch dog like a Mal, female or not (Sorry April) Therefore I put forward 'Xena' as a cool name. Tough but still a lady!

  Cute puppy!
 I used to have one of those dogs named Kiska when I was a kid and she was very playful, we used to wrestle with her all the time and she loved it, didn't have a mean bone in her body. There are also very protective, once while walking her a German Shepherd about the same size ran up on us like it was going to attack, my dog suddenly grabbed the dog by the neck and flung it back and forth like it was a rag doll, needless to say the Shepherd ran away not knowing what the heck just happened.
 Then my dog then just went back to waggin her tail and being her usual playful self.
 The late night howling was the only thing that got a little bit annoying.
 
 As far as names go I still like the more Alaskan sounding names like Kiska

You should just name her puppy. It's what any self respecing child would do! 

I use to have a few Samoyed dogs(9)... they were adorable puppies! But they grow into Huskie/Malamute sized dogs.
We named them after Dr.Zhivago the movie. My two favorite were named after the main characters, Lara and Zhivago!

I miss those dogs.
