Yup, I had butterflies before my first run, but I went up and staged like a pro, I don't think anyone knew it was my first time running.  :lol2: It helped that I had sat in the stands the week before and watched what the other racers were doing.

Just do it. Best to go on a test and tune kinda night where there are lots of rookies. Everyone has a first time. And yes, you'll be hooked.

Yup, thats what i did. rana  15.0 my first time just messing around with highway gears. trapped in 2nd gear  :smilielol: but i was hooked. few hundred dollars later im more than a second faster and ever improving.  :2thumbs: definately always fun, not the cheapest hobby, but i find it a blast  :grinyes:

Not yet! I'd like to, but I'm working on getting more consistant. It is my daily driver, so it'd be a little rough and worrysome competitively racing my only mobile car at the moment. :crying: I should have my Duster up and going here soon, atleast once i move that will be my beater, little slant six car to get me around. We'll see what i do with the fish, last time out i cut a .004 and a .006 light on the pro-tree :woohoo: not too shabby  :2thumbs:

Hey Guys,
My husband ran Blofish down the 1/4 mile this summer.  We went to an all Mopar Show at a 1/4 mile drag strip.  When everyone picked up their trophy's they had them go down the track.  He ran a 9.64 at 146mph.  I filmed him with our DVD recorder as he was going down the track.  Blofish sure looked and sounded good.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I did, last year, 2 events, but only 1/8. Theres no 1/4 tracks around, would love to try the 1/4!
Won that event last year, bracket racing. The pic is from that event. My best run was 10.209@71.92mph. There is an 1/8 event this weekend, hopefully I'll see some improvments to my time with the new TTI exhaust. My drivetrain is a stock '72 340/727 and an open 2.75ish 8-3/4. Have installed a shiftkit too this year. Running on BFG T/As.

I've ran the Cuda dozens of times, if ya can't hammer on it what's the sense of having it? So far my best time with the 392 is 13.31 @ 102 mph. That was with 727 tranny w/3500 stall converter, 4.10 rear and Mickey Thompson ET Streets. That was at the Tucson track, which is about 1400 ft. lower in elevation than my home track here in New Mexico.

I will eventualy get some other gears, but I'll probably need a new casing to.. I got a 741 :hyper: Anyone tested the Detroit TrueTrac? I think they are good, especialy since I'm gonna go around corners to. It is a torsen-diff (TorqueSensing). That is what Audi use in their Quattro system, and the Quattros are by far the best 4x4 system out there, and I've tried alot of 4x4 living in norway where it's snow half year around.

Thats on course for about a Mid 15 or so. Swap some gears in there! I ran a 15.0 (9.75 1/8th) with my 318 when I had a open 2.76....booorrrinng, I bet you don't shift into third right?  I remember trapping a few hundred below redline in second gear with the highway gears. I went from the 15.0 (at 3,600ft d/a) to a 14.300 (at 5,200ft) by going from 276 >391. Thats basically the only change, new converter and springs, and tune and I'm at 14.0 at 5,200.

...sorry...im not helping, thats the basic newbie drag racer snowball effect i just told you to hop on.  :smilielol:

If I remember correctly it just goes into 3rd when i pass the line. I just put it in drive and step on it.. a little wheelspin, back of trottle and then floor it, great for bracket racing, but a bit boring. I would like to step up the gears and close that open rearend. But like I said, need a new case too, so it will cost me.

It will all happen in time. I remember how long it took for me to get my Challenger close to the way I wanted it.

I'd definately not back off the throttle. That will kill your e/t. Just maybe 'roll' into the four barrels a little more, or get it rolling some before you nail it (talking a couple feet..). What rpm does it shift in, do you have a higher govenor in the trans so it shifts at a higher rpm when you leave it in drive? ....I'd still manually shift it. I didn't get out of second gear in the 1/4 mile, you definately shouldnt be near 3rd in the 1/8th with the same gearing. For some reason i think i read your running a 741 case right now, i'd still run it. It will hold up just fine with what you are running. Its not necessarily 'weak' its just not the strongest out of the ones mopar made. Mopar overengineered a lot of the stuff they put out, you should be fine...

Heres my 318 with 3.91s, 3500stall and some stickies. 1.9 60ft, 8.9 1/8th and its been dropping off at the top end, fuel starvation seems to be a cause at 14.0. The 8th was on target for a 13.90 but it's not keeping up like it should. Always something  :smilielol:. Still messing around with the launch rpm and such, I will be trying a holley 650 d/p it looks like...hopefully get another tenth out of the 60ft once i get it ALL dialed in. I've yet to really 'tune' it by tinkering with timing, jetting and such. Just been tinkering with the air door and pump shot. :2thumbs:

I'll trye to roll it out, see what happens. I might have a high govenor, because I have to drive very fast to get it to shift, especialy for 2-3. But it seems to me that it shifts when I reach a sertain speed, not a sertain rpm. There is something wrong with my tach, pointer will not move over 3000. ??? The tall tires also make my speedo off. The 741 is stong enough for my stuff, but there seem to be less parts available for it, and If I,m gonna rebuild it with gears and LSD I might just as well put my money in a 742 or 489 right away.
