I'll trye to roll it out, see what happens. I might have a high govenor, because I have to drive very fast to get it to shift, especialy for 2-3. But it seems to me that it shifts when I reach a sertain speed, not a sertain rpm. There is something wrong with my tach, pointer will not move over 3000. ??? The tall tires also make my speedo off. The 741 is stong enough for my stuff, but there seem to be less parts available for it, and If I,m gonna rebuild it with gears and LSD I might just as well put my money in a 742 or 489 right away.

Yea i hear you on might as well dump the money into a better case. if you weren't half way round the world i have a spare 489 case.  You running a stock tach? I'd still definately manually shift it, even if your tach doesnt work, you can pick up a stand alone shift lite for not too much.  :2thumbs:

Yeah, I paid big $$ to get a rallyedash, like the look of it. It worked last year, but I changed some wires when I put my car back together, Don't think it's too much work to short it out. I can probably get some used cases here in Norway or in Sweden for a reasonable price.

awe come 'on, you dont need any stinking stock gauges.  :grinyes:

You can rig up a shift lite to a stock light in the dash or small bulb, stand alone by autometer. I'm tricky enough to rig something like that, if your interested ill show you how to do that.

I just ran my '72 Cuda down the track this last weekend at Rt. 66 in Joliet. This is the first time I ran it in over 9 years, and my reaction times show it :'(. My best run for the weekend was a 13.807 at 98.43mph, with a 60' time of 1.977 through the mufflers. This is with 15 year old 235R60-14 BFG T/A radials! I can't beleive how well they hooked up :lol2:. I'm running a 340 with '70 pistons (around 10.0:1 compression), 2.02" valves (the way it came from the factory - its a very early '72 car), a MP 280/.474" lift cam, M1 dual plane intake with a Holley 650DP and old Cyclone aluminum coated headers. The trans is a stock TF727 and I'm running a 3.55 gear with sure-grip. Most of my other runs (when I got traction) were in the 13.9 to 14.2 range.

I'm hooked! While in the staging lanes, all I kept thinking about was what I could do next to get more HP into this engine and get the power to the ground. I'm thinking right now that my first purchase should be a nice set of wheels and sticky tires. I'm running the stock road wheels right now and the track officials insisted that I remove the trim rings... Ugly!!! Besides, they are only 5.5" wide so I can't put any larger tires on them than what I'm already running. I'm considering a set of the all chrome Magnum wheels from the Wheel Guy, 15x8 in the back and 15x7 in the front. That way I can still use the original center caps and they will still look close to stock.

The 1/8 event this weekend didn't go as well as I had hoped. I had some traction problems. Best time was 10.326@72.94mph

The best time I HAVE RUN IS A 13.1 AT 105 MPH. My 60 ft time is still over 2 seconds. Thats with street tires 3.55 rear and mufflers. Istill say I could run a 12 sec 1/4 if I got some traction. The highest I can stage is only about 1200 rpm.

I've raced several of mine, and a few for others..Driving is what they were built for, racing a track is the safest way to use them. Talent is not needed, only enthusiasm.

I'm gonna try and get the Beast down the 1/4 sometime later this month.  I have been getting a few loose ends tied up that always happens when you are taking a high 9--low 10 second car from the street to the track.  NHRA has some silly little saftey rules that I must comply with first.   :roflsmiley:   Got 90% of the stuff finished.  Need to meet with the georgia NHRA chassis certification dude asap.  After the certification is complete, a few more minor things and the fun will begin.  I'll keep y'all posted on the times when I do make the passes.   :burnout:    :roflsmiley:
