The two outer pins gives me 12v. But not only in Reverse, but in Drive as well. So maybe the plastic piece on the VB linkage inside the trans is the problems as metioned by tactransman. Where can i get one and is it hard to change. I know I have to drain the trans for oil.

Jack the car up on the driver side , unscrew the switch, look thru the the hole and shift the transmission thru the gears (with the engine off!) and watch and see if the plastic piece looks like the one in the picture, or if there is a piece missing.

OK, I'll try and check it out tomorrow. Is the plastic piece allways blue?

I haven't check the Vin om the transmission. So I really don't know. But it does have the neutral switch that works on 69 and up or does this fit the 68 and older trans as well. Where on the trans are the id numbers that indentify the trans? The 'cuda is at at winter storage as winter is comming.

Here's a pic of the single wire N/S switches. The one on the right was used on all pushbutton transmissions from '55-'64 and has an all metal contact button.
The one on the left was used on the '64 console shift and all '65-'68. The metal contact is surrounded by plastic.

The four switches used in the TF. The two at right are interchangeable if the proper wire connector is used.

Here are the internal levers used with the various switches.

The 3 pin switches are for the later model (68 and later) cars and trucks.

The 2 outter pins are for the back up lights and the center pin is for the safety switch.

There is a cupped rubber covered metal gasket that seals the switch, no O ring. The P/N is 2408123.

It's been a long wild but I finally have the 'cuda out of storage. And I checked the vin on the tranny and  it is number matching. So it's a 69/70 727 (as my 'cuda was built in Nov 69). Where do I get the plastic peace that is most likely missing in my tranny?

You need to unscrew the S/N switch  and look thru the hole to make sure that is what it is.
