Deputy Challenger?
« on: September 02, 2006 - 10:01:27 PM »
 Hi guys,got a question.I found a 70 Challenger in a backyard in Salt Lake City.The owner was not home but the son was and I asked if the car was for sale.He said that yes he thinks it is but his mom is not home.I asked to take a look at the car.The car looks solid but has been sitting for awhile.It now has a 440 in it with a 4 speed.I took down the VIN #'s JH23LOE my book shows that it is a Deputy Challenger with a 383 2 barrel and auto 16 shipped.I had neer really looked into just what a Deputy Challenger is.Can someone shed some light?If the price is right I plan to purchase the car and get it cleaned up and running then sell it and use the money to get my Charger R/T on the road.Any help is appreciated.

Did it have the A93 code? Fixed rear windows?

OK, JH23L0 Challengers were available in two different flavors for US sale;

2 door hardtop - 3,069 sold in the US

2 door coupe (Deputy) 16 sold in the US

If it is a Deputy, it will have fixed rear windows and the A93 package code on the fender tag.

Best of luck!

Barry

 Hey guys thanks for the replies.I got a hold of the owner.The car is going to be for sale but will be asking alot for the car.I took a quick look when I took down the VIN #'s the car overalll looked solid but still needed alot of work.The owner stated that he was going to do more work on the car then put it up for sale.he said that he had already turned down 2 offers for $10,000.00 I think that he was crazy for turning that down but I'm sure that he will find a buyer for that car.I myself will not pay that much for a non R/T car that needs work but I know that their are people that will pay the price regardless of how much work is needed.
