Another rice bites the dust !
« on: July 15, 2003 - 07:12:16 PM »
First off im not one to promote street racing. But last week on the way home from a cruise night i was minding my business and Hmm....**** happens! It was a 3 lane divided roadway with no trafic and a red light. One of those Acura NSX pulls up beside me, a young guy and his girl are given me the look ;D. He wants to go so im ready and i hammer it as the light changes. Im breaking loose all through first, and second  ???. I look and he is only 1 car length behind me. Wow i was surprised :o,hit third and he gave up ::) At the next light i got the thumbs up from his girl and a dirty look from him. I gave him the mopar muscle lesson of a lifetime 8)

that reminds me of when i raceed this chick in a 3000 gt.  She gave that look that u wish look and i just punch it off the light had her about 2 car links until she hit fourth gear and i hit a big dip.  I thought it was good for a b body with a 318 has over 150.000 thounsand miles to beat her little but off the line and keep going like that.

As an owner of both a 71 440 Cuda and a 91 NSX, I would like to comment.

First, most NSX owners do not consider themselves "Ricers." I certainly do not. The NSX can stand on its own without cheap ass wings and whatnot.

Second, the NSX is not a quarter mile car. If the NSX'er thought he could beat any old car or whatever off the line, he was an idiot. The NSX is for handling and top speed, period. The 5 speed manual on the early NSX's has too much spacing between the first and second gear ratios to run a quick 1/8th mile, and will only use 3 of its 5 gears in the quarter.

Third, the NSX is still pretty quick for being a 270 hp 6 banger. It can run a mid 13 quarter pretty consistently. But my Cuda can beat it with 2 barrels closed.

Lastly, I love my Cuda. But I love my NSX too. And I hate riced up Civics, Accords, etc!!

A stock NSX (what I have) doesn't meet any of these criteria...

http://www.cuda-challenger.com/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=2217

Therefore, it is not "rice."

Subara WRXs, POS chevy cavaliers, etc. are not made in Japan, but I've seen plenty that were undoubtably more rice-ish than my handmade, low production Honda supercar. IMO, rice means anything garish and stupid (typically a low dollar import), driven by teenage idiots.

I'm all for beating up on the "big yellow sticker" crowd, but just don't associate me with them....  ;)

I think NSX's might still qualify as "rice" they may  be handmade, exclusive, and be able to handle pretty good but rice just the same.

Not that there is anything wrong with having rice, I like rice too........Fried with pork or chicken. ;D
