quick crank question
« on: September 03, 2006 - 03:52:16 PM »
Hey guys I feel like an idiot for asking this question. I got my crank back from the machinist today and he said the rod journals are .001 undersized not by the maltese cross stamped on the block. Is this correct? Do you just Put standard sized bearings in?

thanks

What was done to your crank?  Maybe you can explain more what you are trying to do.  This chart should help you find what your motor came with.  If your crank has been redone these specs should no longer matter.  I would hope your crank was done 10 under if redone.  I would not think the machinist would take 10 off of what was there making it 11 under or something crazy. The Cross is for the component; not the block.

I took the crank in to have it checked out.. He said it was fine. so he just polished it up a bit. And he said the rods are .001 undersized.. I was just wondering what kind of clearence I should have.. Does anyone know where I could a spec sheet for bearing clearences and a crank endplay and all that sort of stuff?

Thanks

0015 - .0025 is correct for rods , .0015 - .003 is good for mains
endplay around .010 if I rember correctly
