Newb from Washington
« on: September 04, 2006 - 05:31:18 PM »
Hi all,

I've been reading this board for a couple months now. This is such a great site - I've learned so much from you all already. Thank you!

I have one and only one 'cuda that I've owned for 25 years. It originally had a 318, and was a 'lime gold' color. It was my first car, and got me around in Nebraska through high school, college and for a few years and states after college. During college I had it painted red - I never liked the original color.

I stopped driving it sometime around '92, when I went over to Europe due to my job. The mopar bug had kinda left me at that point in my life, but my parents rescued the 'cuda and kept it for me while I was overseas and until I got a place where I could keep it. They hauled it around as they moved, and then finally to my house in WA where it sat in my garage for about 11 years, collecting dust and mice.

Last year the mopar bug surfaced again and I've started getting it restored. So now the 318 has been replaced by a rebuilt 360, 4bbl with a lopey cam and other stuff. It still needs a lot of work - rear end, body and interior, but it's driveable, and man, I can't describe how much fun it is to drive it again after all those years.

But that's a great thing about this site, I don't need to try to describe the feeling because you all already know what I'm talking about.  ;)

So hello, and thanks again to all of you for this great community!

Welcome to the site Red74Fish. What part of Nebraska did you grow up in as I also grew up there and now live in IL. Nice ride and the feeling I get driving my Challenger or Cuda is one I'll never forget.

Welcome to the Forum Red74!  If I were starting a resto, that would be the condition I would love to start from!!  I only see a dent on the driver's side...what other body work do you need to do?  Looks great!

Glad to have you on board!

Thanks all! I appreciate the welcome and all your nice comments!

Besides that dent, there's some rust bubbling up that didn't show in the pics. That car has always had rust somewhere ever since I've had it. Good old road salt.

I grew up in a small town about 30 miles SE of Lincoln, and now I live in the Seattle area. Maybe I'll see ya out on the highway someday, jvhodges.
