How is a 70 Challenger RT worth
« on: September 05, 2006 - 06:43:58 PM »
I had a local guy stop in looking at my 70 challenger RT and wanted to know if it was for sale and how much I wanted. I replied that for the right price everything is for sale. My question is what is a fair price for my challenger? The vin is JS23UOB****** so its a RT u-code car, 4 speed, a/c, Dana 3.54,  It is a rust free car, Good driver paint, windows have marks from previous body work, power steering, power brakes. It needs the dash trim panel around the a/c control, a/c stuff under hood, correct a/c dash (I just through in a non ac dash when I was putting it together because it was what I had)

If it's the original engine a base ball park figure would be about $25,000-30,000.  :2cents:

I'd say about $22-$25K if non-numbers. What's the engine in it now? 440.

Paint is the real issue, out of ten what would you honestly give it?  By the way this is just my opinion, wait for others to give theres. I'd say with that combo it's still in the low to mid $20Ks.

out of ten with 10 being a show car I would give it about a 7. Great cruise paint even 3 footer but if you real close and pick it apart you will find flaws.

In all honesty I would have to disagree with NZ.  I think his figures are a tad on the low side.  I've seen 72 up Challengers go for that and those had engines swapped or options added that weren't available.  You would have to feel out the seller, is he up to doing any work or will he have to pay someone else.  If he is up to doing his own work, you can probably get away with charging him more versus someone that has to pay to get things done as it will eat up his budget quicker.  But then again if a guy can afford to pay someone else to do the work, his pockets have to be somewhat deep.  So I guess I was no help  :dunno:

For some strange reason, U-codes seem to stay around the same level as N-code 383 cars. But if this car is a A33 Dana optioned car, that is a big plus.

I would say for  car like yours in condition 10 with proper wheels/tires, NOM motor and a/c reconnected would be $40-45k. Hell, clones are fetching high 30's around here!

So for the way it is (condition 7) low-mid 30's sounds about right.

I guess it is a little low, but it's hard to tell without being there in person (like all of us). The car looks decent, I was thinking 6 paint condition from the photos but a 7 given from the owner which he would know. Non-numbers I'd still say about $25K possibly $30K again depending on condition, paint isn't the only thing, interior, floor pans, frame rails etc......A 440 #'s engine usually adds around $7-10K on the price, put that into my total and it seems right to me. $35,000K+ and if restored...... +
