Ever have problems with your mopar?
« on: September 07, 2006 - 05:36:04 PM »
Im just wondering how many people have the problems I do. Is it just bad karma for me, or it just the car?

How long have you had the car? The problem with mine was it sat for years, if not decades before I bought it. Sure it looks good, but it took about 3-4 years to iron out the kinks.  :swear:  :stomp:

Ive had mine sence 97 and have loaded it with nos parts, once one problem is fixed a nother one comes about. Im 23 years old no and Im near the end of my time and money spent on it. Im thinking well the prices are up to sell. But the thing is what to get? I would love to by another cuda and drop a viper driveline in it. Then maybe I could at least drive the thing! LOL

If you want to sell, let me know. I have two great running Mopars right now, maybe we can make a deal.

I disagree with the premise of the poll

Did you ever try to keep a Camaero or Ferbird on the road ?  I have been to the dark side and I can tell you that the performance / breakage ratio on a GM car is far above a typical Mopar if your using stock parts.

Then try to take your GTO or Shovelle to the track for the first time. Talk about carnage!!!

The Beast is at least 37 years old, so of course it is gonna need some TLC periodicly.  I think sometimes we forget how old these cars are.  Most of em are long gone, so it stands to reason that the remaining ones are gonna need parts replaced, and routine maint in order to continue to run great.  Sometimes they are cantankerous, but when they are running right, there's nothing better.  Just my humble 0.02............      :cooldancing:

I agree with you oldschool when they are running right, there is nothing like them! I have had a few times when the car was in perfect running order and i tell you hitting 3rd gear in a auto and facing the ditch is great! Get that 340 with the  termo quad wide open and the sound is just great!....But In the past what going on 10 years I have had that go right for me 5 or 6 times. I do know you need to work on them but every time you start it...LOL  I just wounder how everyone else does it? Maybe that I have all stock parts? right down to the carb.

dont take me the wrong way guys! :villagers: lol

REALITY CHECK. If it were easy everybody would be keeping old cars.  A little perspective, back in '85 my driver was a '73 240Z which was well broke in and required plenty of maintenance, well I got the hots for a newer shinier car and parked the Z for about a year while I enjoyed my new Z28. Well low & behold when I started trying to drive the ole Z-car again many many many things had gone wrong while she just sat there, fast forward 20 years I wonder what I could expect from that little beast today if I had kept it like I did my Chally?  :2cents:

I do know how the old cars are, I have had plenty this is the only mopar I have kept, I sold the other before I had a chance to drive them. I do know that I have had plenty of novas and camaros, I had a 68 ss nova and I could let it set for a year without starting it and turn the key bang it was running the day I parked it! I try doing that with the cuda I have after a day and it runs complety differnet for the day before. It has been that way for the last 10 years. There hasnt been a time when the car wasnt started every other day!

All I wanted to find out again is if it was a comin problem with us guys with mopars. I do know we are a group like the harley fans.....We are proud to have one!

Sorry guys I didnt mean to offend you! :worshippy

I did battle with the "left-sitting-too-long Gremlins" for years.  Didn't drive it much because of nagging little problems that kept coming up.  Now I'm taking care of them all (I hope) with a complete rebuild.  That's why I checked "I can't drive it"  It's kinda tough to do when it's in a million pieces.  But when she's back together......WATCH OUT! :ylsuper:

I'm not offended & I meant none, I have just no expectations when it comes to an antique vehicle. With my level of mechanical in-ability I can't even keep a newer vehicle reliable.
