Catch Can. What did you do?
« on: September 15, 2006 - 01:50:41 PM »
Right now I have a plastic water bottle with the hose running into it.  It seems like everywhere I went, It would spray coolant out the overflow on to the ground.  I would like to see some pics of what you guys have done for this.  The Plastic water bottle wedged between my battery and front doesn't look to good.  :eek4:

Hose runs to the bottom of the overflow. That way whenever it fills up with coolant it will fill up as normal, but the vacuum created when the system cools off will suck the coolant back in. I'll be making that a hardline here shortly, i dont like that rubber line  :eek4:

Sorta same as you, washer fluid bottle with the hose going through the cap.  Factory hose, make sure it goes to the bottom or else it'll suck in air.
Sorry no pic but you'ld laugh at the Mickey Mouse job I've done!  :roflsmiley:

My brother has a SRT-4 with a pretty cool lookin' stainless steel catch can that I am going to see if I can get to work on mine.  Or I wonder if I can go more stealth with a black one to hide a little bit.  There wasn't anything "original" that they used back in the day was there? (I kind of like the 32 ounce Beer can that my bro uses on his 69 Charger!) What did they do back then?...just keep filling it up every week?   :dunno:

I have an original one from I think a `74 which is the only year they came factory I think?I bought it to use on my `72 but ended up getting a polished aftermarket one that I still need to install permanently.  ::) I was going to e-bay it but i`ll figure a price if you are interested.Decent shape but no cap,I figure one from another model might fit?

I will probably go to an aftermarket one as well, being that I am not worried about keeping EVERYTHING looking stock on it.  Not that a catch can is that big of deal anyway.  As long as it helps so I don't blow up the motor!  :grinyes:

Once it found it's level it didn't spit out any more.  I.E., enough room for expansion.

I got a 2"rd by 13"lg stainless catch can from all places J.C.Whitney  You could fog it black and hide it fairly easy.  It feeds from the bottom.

The one on my charger I got from Speedway, and they make some smaller ones.  Nice pretty chrome ones.  The steel one on my SRT4 was junk, I have a powdercoated one now on that thing...
