I bought my friend’s house in 1997, the year before I completed the
restoration of my 71 cuda, so I was so happy to bring the car in my own garage,
what a feeling.
And what was parked on the other side of the street, two house to the left ?
See the picture below. One day when I heard the car getting out of the garage, I said to myself, that engine needs a choke. The man was having a tough time putting the car in gears without bugging. I remembered that I had parts for a choke but I needed to know if it was a 383 with an holley carb, because a Carter carb use a different choke.
Very good excuse to get in touch with him !!
Best thing to do was to ask him, and yes it was an holley, so I offered him to install
the choke, it went great and he was happy. Surely we became friend and sometimes he
ask me to do some mechanical work on his car, and I love that ! We also did a
engine compartement cleanup !!
This winter he asked me to do the front brake,
he had placed the car on jack to
clean the underside (scrubbing and scrubbing) and a bit of painting. See other picture.
The guy worked all winter in is spare time to do this, and that guy only have one arm,
he lost is other arm in a bike accident in the mid 80. He bought the challenger the year after and still own it with around 60k original miles on it. It’s a 71 auto.
Hope my english is not too bad !
Enjoy and have a great day……or night.
