1970 Cuda "Made in USA" tag?
« on: September 17, 2006 - 08:35:41 PM »
This is an Ebay photo of a BS23N0B car.  Anybody seen a tag like this on a Cuda
before?  Where would it have been mounted?

... I just reread the auction description, it's a Y09 export car.  Perhaps the tag was
placed on exports only?

You might be right, but I thought it said export on the tag, if indeed it was an export? :clueless:

Those tags were required on cars ordered from overseas, even if they were never actually exported.

Got a link to the auction?

Found it;

Note that the fender tag is coded N95 as well - Evaportive Emission Control. N95 was required for California sale. Chrysler had a Military Sales program where cars could be ordered from overseas and picked up at a dealership of the persons choice on their return stateside. This car was likely ordered by a US serviceman and was picked up at a dealership in California when new.

T/Ake care,

Thanks Barry.  The military sales program is still around.  The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has a new
car sales program for military serving overseas.  They sell Chrysler, Ford, and Harley Davidson vehicles at a fixed markup with a lowest price guarantee.

We spent two years on Guam and the sea air destroyed our two vehicles, so when we left there in '99 I sold our vehicles on the island and bought an in stock Dodge Dakota and special ordered a Ford Explorer and had them delivered to a local dealership back in the States.
