JH27NOB, I am also in the Chicago area. I would like to find out whom your friend uses to work on the car.
As to the other questions, I was looking at the 1971 cuda brochure on the stock mopar site. My car looks much like the one on the first page of the brochure. It does not have the vinyl top on it. It does have the fog lights and other stuff you see on that car and is that hemi orange color. In the brochure I have the black leather seats shown as # D. It has the center console and the rally instrument cluster that goes way up in mph like 160 or 180 but I haven’t really looked at it for years. It has the upgraded AM-FM radio package that really did sound pretty good back then. Although, I used to listen to Larry Lujack on WLS AM radio station back in those days. It also has the wood Hurst shifter option that really shifts the 4-speed smoothly and looks cool with the chrome and wood trim on it.
It has the chrome rings around the wheels and when my car came in they forgot to put the chrome on one side of the car so I had to take it back to the dealer and have the parts installed. It also has the tire upgrade with the large white letters. I ordered the car with the limited slip differential in it and it has the 4.10 rear end ratio. It has the racing mirror option and electric windows.
My father wanted me to buy a convertible. They were not popular back then for muscle cars because it added weight to the car. I even did not want the AC option on the car to save weight and not use up HP. My Dad said since I did not want to get the AC I had to get the electric windows on it. Boy did I make a mistake I should have got the convertible because they really are worth big money now. I really did not like the convertible because my first car was a 1965 corvair convertible spider with the 180 HP turbo charged engine. The nice thing about that car was all the chrome the General put on the engine.
I even have that car but that is another car story.
