Put a "lip" on the end of the line to keep it from slipping off. Double hose clamps on each line. I would use "braided steel" line.

the cheaper way to go is to use the interally braided steel line , it is industrial application & has a rubber layer over the steel braid for about 20% of the cost

I run the orginal steel lines along the driver framerail. Works great. I don't have any rubber until the end where they go into the cooler in the front. Tranny has a poly mount. I can take pictures if needed.

That would be great if you could take pics of the routing and how they attatch the the tranny cooler.

So if you were to run a good few inches of -6 Braided line to aluminum line that is not mounted to the frame/anything and goes to rubber line just before the cooler, you guys would not run aluminum, correct?

Also do you guys have any tips/tricks to getting the line as straight as possible from the roll? I've kinda tweaked with it the best I can by hand, just wondering if you unravel it a certain way and get it nice n straight.. :eek4:

When I use steel lines , I just use straight lines and connect them with compression fittings. I don't know about a coil of aluminum line because I would not use aluminum for trans lines.
I have used a coil of 1/2 inch aluminum fuel line and I could never get it perfectly straight.

I have had the lines running along the rail for a longtime with no issues. I originally ran them in copper but since replaced them with steel. Never had a problem with the copper though. Just redid the compartment and wanted something fresh looking so I ran new lines. The thing I have to ask is has anyone really looked at the size of the fittings coming out of the tranny? They are 5/16 at most. Running a bigger line than the fitting going in and out of the tranny would be of no advantage. No matter what the tranny cooler has for fittings. You need to take into consideration the fittings on the tranny. Any one have larger fittings on their tranny's?

with the rolls of steel lines I use I just stand on it & unroll it against the floor to get it straight

Here you go.

This is the driverside front rail.

The bend straight into the trans.

The rubber hoses connect the cooler to the steel lines.
