I hate those mieces to pieces
« on: September 18, 2006 - 08:48:29 AM »
In the short time my GC was outside(it could have happened inside my shop as well)the dam mice have gotten into my frame holes.I even found a stash of mouse bait in there when i was blowing out the sand to paint,i sure he died from it buts its irritating and I am also sure there are many more to take his place. It just goes to show you for every action there is a reaction.I have shot every rattle snake i came across and thats probably why there are so many mice this year,I guess its the lesser of 2 evils i have to deal with. That will be a regular maintenance point for my E bodies,to blow out the frame with my compressor occasionally.Of course I live in the country where there are many "critters".ANyone else have this problem?,if not I would check your rails

I wish it was just mice in my frame rails. I've got black widow spiders in mine! You can't leave anything set too long in this area without getting black widows in it. I had a friend of mine that works for a local pest control come over just before I put the engine in and he sprayed some stuff up in the frame rails and told me they would start dropping out in about 20 minutes to get away from the stuff, but it would still kill them. A short time later I had 10 or 12 dead spiders on the ground! The car has been sitting for a while now and when I was under it the other day I noticed some webs again. Got to looking around and sure enough, saw a black widow sitting in a hole in the framerail back by the front leaf spring hanger. Man I hate those things! Guess I'm going to have to call my friend again. I think this time I'll have him do the house and yard too, and go ahead and break down and have the monthly perimeter spray done. I had this done at the house I used to live in and it seemed to keep them under control. Jeez I hate spiders, the only good spider is a DEAD one!

Mice, rattlesnakes and black widow spiders....  :22yikes: :22yikes: :22yikes:  We have some wooded areas around our house, so I've seen mice in our shed.  :eek7: :eek7:  Thankfully, we have a nice healthy family of red hawks around which keeps them at bay.  It's great to watch these huge birds flying around.  :grinyes:

ANyone else have this problem?

A long time ago I was helping a guy restore an Olds hearse (beautiful car, would love to have one). Him and his wife were both large people who liked to eat, but they had a nasty habit of stuffing half-eaten food into the glove box. When I got inside there was this terrible smell, that I first though was rotting hamburger, but turned out to be rotting field mice that had found their way into the glove box but aprently couldn't find their way out.

Black widow spiders!  :scared:  Yikes!  That'll stop me from crawling around under the dash!

I was thinking, "Where does he live?"  I saw in your profile, "N.M."  I was like, "Europe?"  :pullinghair:

Stupid me.  :banghead:  I did get only 39/48 on this test: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=25425.0

I'll have to check the rails, though..  Where I'm now there's only a couple times I've seen Mickey but I'll tell ya when I got the car it was in a barn in New Hampshire.  My brother -in-law wouldn't get in the car because of the urine smell.  They clogged up the cowl area down to the vent outlets in the car with "stuff".  Now part of the cowl is rusted.

They also ate up a good portion of the 2 buildsheets I found.  :stomp:

The headliner was full of "stuff", whole floor covered in mouse poop under the rear seat, and the upper part of the rear seat had a huge mouse house in it but frustration turned to joy when I found a build sheet tucked under the springs.

If it wasn't for hunting down mickey I probably wouldn't have found that build sheets so soon!

Another mouse tale:

When I used to be a mechanic, I worked at Acura of Boston, MA.  An older Legend came in and the customer complained of lack of power.  I drove it and it felt like it was getting suffocated.

I brought it in the shop and pulled off the top of the air filter housing.  Literally, there was something like 2-3lbs of cat food tucked into the air filter housing, fresh air intake duct, they ate through the paper airfilter element, and the food was going into the rubber intake hose!  My Boss had a great laugh and took a pic!  Sucked it out with a shop vac and all was peachy.

Unfortunately, there's a sad ending.  A week or 2 later the same car comes in for brakes.  I found Mickey pulled in half stuck in the rear brake caliper!  :puke:

When I got the 73 there were mouse houses everywhere, musta pulled out 10 or 12, that cars all metal now(nothing "soft" in yet) & they seem to stay away, till this year moth balls had kept them out of the 74, not this year, up around the heater box & in the hood framing they moved in, munchkins chewed my vaccumn hoses too! :swear: tried traps, irish spring, dryer sheets all over, they would not budge, finally laid out poison & got at least 2(only bodies I found) then a while later got one in a trap, so far haven't seen any more "signs" but winter is comming!  :stomp: Rich.

I had 2 cats , 1 named sylvester & he was about as usuless a the cartoon cat I watched him chase a mouse across the lawn , when the mouse ran into a $.25 sized hole under a building sylvester tried to run in there too , he sat down hard & you could see the stars circling his head , never saw him ever catch or kill a single mouse . My second cat was far smarter , at 6 months he was catching rabbits & birds , mice were just snack food & he couldn`t be bothered with them

Michigan is sounding pretty good right now . . . few rattlesnakes, no black widows or scorpions, no rats in my area . . . but I'm sure we have mice around here!
