Carb /throttle cable hook-up.....340 Edelbrock 1406 carb
« on: September 19, 2006 - 10:17:31 PM »
Put  a performer 2176 intake  with a 1406 carb c/with electric choke  on my  340.........4 gear car. Does  anybody else  have this? since  need to know  how  you have the throttle cable  hooked up. Got  the mopar  adapter bracket  so  as to attach the stock cable  which  I had to shorten but  it appears  now  I  need to make /or buy some funky  bracket to support the cable at  a point approx 2.5" behind  and  to the side  of the carb  flange. What's  others  out there done  to make  this  work  or do I  need to get a different  cable??.........thx....

I had the same setup on my 360 before I rebuilt it, except it is an auto, so it may not work.  It is a little hard to see in the photos but I used a custom made bracket, which straddled the intake runner and was held on by two intake bolts.

After looking at those photos again, I think I customized part of an original linkage setup for the shifting linkage.  It is hard to remember, it was done this way about 9 years ago.

If the cable is to short simply buy a slant six cable they are longer and when using custom set-ups its the easy way to do it.As far as the bracket that bolts to the intake WWW.MOPARTSRACING.COM will sell you a tall ajustable one that will work great
