I'm sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. I felt like I was cutting off my arm telling the vet. it was time, but it was the right thing to do.

I have 13 year sheltie that is getting slower and I know that dreadful day is coming.  He's been part of the family for a long time.  My youngest daughter who now is a senior in high school was five years when we picked him up.  I think it's going to be extremely hard on her.

Man that sucks mate....my dog has Cancer so I won't be too far behind you.
16 years is a very, very good age for a dog, he lived a long and happy life, what more could you ask for?

I feel sad when I take my boy into the vet and the vet takes him from me...looking around at me and shlt. I don't want to have to have put down but, it's the best for him....right now I spoil the crap out of him, anything is the go.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.  I haven't been in the position to make the descision before, but can on imagine how difficult it has to be.
Hang in there and remember that he had a good life.

I'm really sorry for your loss.  I know many of us have been through this before and can truly sympathize with you.  He looks like he was a sweet dog.  Remember the good times.

sorry to hear that, I too have been in the same situation.  It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, but he was suffering also and he would have kept on suffering and living just to make me happy and that would have been selfish on my part.  Just remember all the love you had and he will still continue to keep you happy.

Really sorry to hear of what happened!  Looked like a really nice pup.  ( I call some adult dogs that.)

When my dog Lucky died, he suffered a lot.  Possible cancer of the spleen, no one was really sure.  He used to yelp in pain having a bowel movement.  Sometimes couldn't walk.  I brought him to the vet numerous time and he seemed  to get better one day then bad the next.  I used to just sit in the backyard with him lying next to me with his head on my lap wondering what was going to happen to him.  He did pass away when we weren't home.  He hid himself in the basement when he died.  I heard some dogs do that, maybe not to upset thier owners?  I don't know.

He died about 20 years ago but even now as I type this I still have tears in my eyes.  I really do feel your pain.

I am sorry about your loss. I understand since I have had several dogs in my lifetime. It will take a little time to get over, but just remember the good days you had together.

I had to put my Springer Spaniel, SHELBY down about a year ago, so I feel your pain.   Shelby was my friend and we went for many walks together. She would sit by me and it seemed like she could feel anything that I felt at the time, good or bad.
She would go to car shows and drag races with me and would pull the leash out of my hand so that she could carry it in her mouth and walk herself.  She would ride on my Seadoo with me and bark like crazy if I left her behind till I came back to get her.
I'll never replace her.  I miss her.

Her name will be with me forever (SHELBYDOGG).
