It would also only take one person to steal my car, go on a rampage running people over and kill dozens. He could get up a good head of spead and crash it through a fast-food restaurant door, running over people who were doing nothing but enjoying a juicy and unhealthy burger. Still wouldn't be my fault, or my car's fault, and I'll bet that no one on this board would argue for making it harder to own a car.

Not ripping on you, NZ, but I largely disagree with what you're saying.

We have like 1 or 2 gun related problems down here a year (usually no shots fired) and that's about it.

So, what your saying is that New Zealand is 98% violent crime free because there are no guns?

I heard that about England too, but discovered there are more attempted murders over there per capita, just everyone uses knives, rocks, and white vans.

What I think was the only funny thing Larry the Cable guy ever said:

"If guns kill people, then by that logic, I want my Diploma because my pencil made me fail!" .... so something along those lines....

Course you'll defend it....we have bad crime down here, not the worlds worst but still, bad.
ChallengerHK, it's all good mate......

Put it this way, which other countries have the worst gun related violence's even close to you??? Do other countries with gun bans have people running around shooting people? The US has the highest gun related death toll by some margin. That's the problem, so many in the US, Mexico are quick to drive their guns.....gun happy.

You guys really need to get off the "people who use them bla bla bla" lines......that is true, no doubt, but would you have that problem if you couldn't buy a gun like you can buy a coffee?!!!?! - NO.

If you have a country saturated with guns available to people when they are intoxicated, angry or depressed it's not unusual guns will be used more often and often relating to deaths and horrific injuries.

I live 10-15 miles from Oakland CA. Now the highest crime rate per capita in the U.S. I heard last night on the news.Over 60 percent of shootings go unsolved because people are afraid to speak up. Every single day, somebody gets shot there. Yes, I want to move also.

Unfortunately, even if we had extreme laws banning handguns, it would only stop those people interested in owning them legally.  Then just the bad guys would have them, leaving the rest of us pretty much defenseless.   I have one, I know how to use it.  It does not leave the house, nor would I even consider using it in anger.

That's a weak argument at best. Your logic is also flawed slighty - the choice weapon of drunks is beer bottles.

I don't know where the british mentaility of that all Americans are gun-toting lunatics comes from, but I'd be willing to bet 80% of the population here have never seen a gun fired, or have been witness to a crime commited with one. The most dangerious weapon I own is still my car - unless you count my dueling sword which was inheritied.

Yeah, well, it's actually Rebecca Peters, a Johns Hopkins University specializing in gun violence who stated this.

I aggree with you Rev.

My wife and I both own guns, shoot regularly, and have our concealed handgun permits for over 20 states.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

From the US Department of State..on the subject of New Zealand..

I guess this is all okay...as long as they don't use a gun, right?  :dunno:

"Prostitution is legal; however, organizing and recruiting women into prostitution is not. The law prohibits sex tourism, and citizens who commit child sex offenses overseas can be prosecuted in New Zealand courts (see Section 5). There were no reports of abuse or the involuntary detention of women involved in prostitution during the year; however, there were several credible reports that women smuggled into the country were forced into prostitution to repay substantial debts to traffickers. There were also reports that some foreign commercial sex workers had their passports withheld by employers until bonds were repaid.

A January study published by the Ministry of Justice concluded on the basis of anecdotal evidence that child prostitution was a growing problem throughout the country. In 2001 the Government had published a National Plan of Action against the Commercial Exploitation of Children developed in concert with nongovernmental organizations (NGOS). Assistance programs for victims of debt bondage were implemented through the Human Rights Commission, the Mayor of Auckland, the police, the Immigration Service, and NGOs including ECPAT NZ, the Prostitutes Collective, and Shakti Asian Women's Refuge. Other initiatives included pamphlets about the unacceptability of child prostitution, and peer counseling programs. In August a man was fined $625 ($NZ 1,300) and sentenced to community service for possession of child pornography."

Ummmm? And your point is?  :clueless: That's "several" my friend, not thousands.....
That is the worst post in this thread, congratulations.  :clapping: Has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand.

Yeah it's a bad crime, shall we dive into America's crimes? Yeah, I think not. ;)
