The problem is that people don't usually check into the facts as Michael Moore states them.  He creates his own reality and unfortunately some people buy into.  Talk about misinformation!

Deciding for yourself is usually a good M.O.
It's getting harder and harder to find an unbiased presentation in any journalism these days.  Moore is definitely one of the worst offenders of sensationalizing important issues, but so is Rupert Murdoch.  Things being what they are, every corporate journalist has an interest in political outcomes: journalists are being jailed for not giving up their sources, this White House has the worst information record in history...

The way I see it you have 2 choices:  absorb all you can and try to peice together some kind of truth, or listen to what only makes you comfortable, ignore everything else and risk finding out that you've been lied to.

That's why I get all my news from South Park.

In 1938 radios across America ran news reports about how New Jersey was being invaded by UFOs. People were being vaporized and the Government was helpless to stop the onslaught. 1.7 million people took to the streets in panic across the country - absolutely convinced there would be no tomorrow.

Orson Whelles wrote "War of the Worlds" as a brillant method of taking advantage of peoples trust in the radios they listened to.

Michael Moore does the exact same thing, except he doesn't add disclaimers to his film, refuses to admit they are 99% fiction, and if people were rioting in the streets after being paniced by one of his films, he'd probably kick back with a cup of bubbily and spend the night patting himself on the back for a job well done.

He's the worst kind of sensationalist. In fact, I think only Jesse Jackson ranks higher on the BS meter when it comes to politically motivated "truth telling."

:iagree: I listen to the likes of Limbaugh and Moore with equal distrust and if they say something that makes me think, "No F'n way!", I check it out for myself.  The only one I don't give any creedince to is Ann Coulter.  She's got issues that require way more than Dr. Phil to resolve.

I figure somewhere between the Karl Rove edict of the day and the New York Times lies the truth.  As for me, the next election I'm playing it safe and voting for Pedro!

IYou give Moore too much credit for being able to incite panic.  I dont think anyone ran amok in the streets after seeing Roger And Me, and Bowling certainly didnt cause people to drive themselves off cliffs in the middle of the night.  And I'm sorry, while I dont think hes entirely credible, I also don't think his work is 99% fiction.  Maybe 50%-65%.  The world is alot smaller than it was in 1938, and Americans in general are alot more media savvy than they used to be.  I don't think anyone was/is under the illusion that Moore or Stone is really a credible news source.   For me however, they do raise questions, which I am inclined to seek answers from more varied and possibly better informed sources.  I'll say this though, I am consistently surprised and amazed at the hipocrisy our elected oficials will admit to on camera.

I agree, but I think he's even more insidious that that. He'll claim to be a journalist when it suits his needs, and then he'll claim to be "only an entertainer" when somebody catches him in one of his fabrications.
