Fender tag question - 304 = 03 apr build date?

Does 304 mean 03 Apr, 04 Mar or 30 Apr build date ?

First character in the three character fender tag date code will break down as:

1-9 = January thru September
A-C = October thru December

Second and third characters will be the numeric day:

01-31

304 = March 4th

Is Dec. mid year or ?

The reason I ask is sometimes you hear references to "early" built '70's etc.

The 1970 model year ran from August 1st, 1969 through July 31, 1970.

For me personally, I view August cars as early, and July cars as late.

December is close to mid-year to me since it was the 5th month of production.

...I had a 70 HEMI RT/SE Pilot Car with a build date of 801....vin# was 15, about as early as you get
