Slush Box Questions.
« on: September 22, 2006 - 11:17:42 AM »
Do they 'shift kits' raise the rpm shift points when in the auto mode(let the trans shift itself)?
Do they require any other mods?
Can they be easily installed?
Who makes the best for a TF 727?
Thanks in advance, KK

I ran a B&M kit in a 727 years ago. As I recall you had 3 different setup options. Something like street/towing/ street -strip. The way I had it really didn't change much RPM wise.  It was an easy install. You will need to slightly modify your valve body. Just some drilling..they supplied a template back then. Wasn't a big deal.

I have used oth the Transgo & the B&M kits , I think the trans go is slightly better . both install relatively easily , you have to remove a spring in the trans housing & remove the valve body to modify it , it is not hard to do & the instruction are step by step & easy to follow
the shift points do not change , they are controlled by the kick down adjustment & the governer in the tail of the tranny

B7M is cheapest, and the lowest quality. But, I've run them in cars enough that I can duplicate them without buying them now. The Trans Go are the best IMO, and A & A transmissions sells various governor weight sets to get the shift poins you want. The TF-2 and a 5500 governor really make a nice setup..

Go Transgo, and the shifts points will change a little bit due to higher line pressure against govenor pressure but not enough to really tell.

I have a Trans-Go. Thanks to a little "custom" work Chryco did on my kick-down linkage at Carlisle this year, I am REALLY enjoying the ride!!  :2thumbs:
