Opening the hood scoops will do very little to nothing, except let water and dirt in. If you pull the cowl seal, you will get cooler underhood temps, but all the heat will come right in the vents. It does add a sound that's unique, but that's about it. They are too short, and too far back to really help any with cooler air into the carb(s). To really work, the air filter housing must be sealed to the hood, and the openiing needs to extend into the airstream outside the boundry layer. An AAR does this to some degree, the T/A hoods really do it well, as do the 6BBL style scoops. Without the sealing part, you are just adding turbulence around the carb's vicinity. Sometimes that helps, sometimes the hurts.
