Repo 1970 mirrors
« on: September 24, 2006 - 11:46:13 AM »
Anyone have any experience with these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&item=120008689960&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Couple other questions:

Will the 70 mirror line up with the same holes as a 71 & up?

If I were to add a passenger side mirror to a car that didn't come with one, is there anything I need to know, i.e. positioned differently than driver's side or any special hardware that is needed?

Thanks

They just came out with those repro mirrors, so I have heard no feedback yet on them. For that price, they better be good.  :grinyes:

The 70 mirrors had the same bolt pattern as the 71-74 E-bodies. The base was shorter in 70. To add a passenger side mirror, you would need the retaining nuts and screws, which I have found on E-Bay. I suppose you can get them other places too.

I do have the 71-74 mirrors on my car. They were cheaper to come by than the 70 mirrors. The 71-74 mirrors have a longer base on them. Probably an inch or so longer. I like the look.

I have seen the new repo 70 mirrors and they are impressive. Even has the part number in the castings. The only thing I noticed was the drivers remote does not come with a new retaining clip or the bezel to attach the adjuster end in the door panel. I feel these are excellent reproduction parts. After seeing what original chrome mirrors go for and still need replated $500 for the pair doesn't seem as bad as it looks.
Cant kill the mean and ugly. Only the good die young...I plan to be here a while!!
