Shelby's Super Coupe Started After 6 Years

:bananasmi We got Shelby's Super Coupe started on the second try after it sat for over 6 years.   :cooldancing: I was amazed that it fired up so easy. We drove it tranny doesn't slip and the brakes work. The pics are from where the car sat since April of last year and our temporary gas tank.

I don't think I ever seen one of those before. Was that a special model Aspen/Volare??  :dupe:

Yes , Plymouth and Dodge both made Super Coupes the Plymouth was a Dark Red with red, orange, and yellow stripes. 1978 only. Dodge made 501 and Plymouth made a little under 500. These cars were police packaged. They came with the 360 police interceptor , 15 x 8 police wheels , and police suspension. The flared fenders, window louvers, rear spoiler and front spoiler. The only thing missing off this car is the front spoiler.

You are right Plymouth did make a Roadrunner F-Body but they also made Super Coupes.

Supercoupes are cool  :cooldancing:

My buddy and I raced a Aspen R/T for years in Stock Eliminator.  Easy 12 second ride and always raced below the index.

Great performance cars!!!!

Thanks, but it's my daughter's car. It was her godfather's 1st car. Sadly, Chad passed away last April. He left Shelby the Super Coupe. So it's gonna be a project.

I honestly thought you were posting about a Carroll Shelby Super Coupe (is there such an animal even?) that was sitting the last 6 years :bricks1: :bricks1:

Nice ride

I worked at Roebuck Chrysler Plymouth in Birmingham in late 78/early 79 and remember driving the Road Runners from the Transporter thru Service to be new-car prepped. Sayonara Lean Burn, right? :grinyes:

:iagree: That's what I thought too!  I thought I was going to see a Mustang/Cobra type thingy.  But this car is really cool!  More rare to say the least than a Mustang/Cobra thingy as there are so many replicas now.

Does it have the lean burn sitting off of the air filter housing?  I had an '81 5th Ave with that.  Back then I didn't know how to bypass it so when I did some mods to the engine I just took it off the air filter housing and wrapped it in a towel and left it bouncing on the valvecover!

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

This is Shelby. :smilielol: And this is the Super Coupe. :smilielol: It doesn't have the lean burn on it anymore. It was all changed over to electronic .
