The post from Confederate was pretty interesting.  This thread had me very curious (and worried) as my Hemi is being built with Stage V heads.  The valve covers are custom, but I would imagine very similar to the Stage V covers also.  If the Schumacher mounts do indeed move the motor over, it makes me feel a lot better because I am using a Hemi K-frame.  Guess we will see.  :dunno:

Smitty, keep us posted on what you find.

I just got off the phone with the guys at Shumacher and they had some answers. First he told me that he now ships conversion kit with instructions stating that there will be issues with Aluminum after-market valve covers (as has been stated throughout this thread). He is sending me at no cost, a set of mounts that bolts to side of engine with a little more height (3/8 inch) than original mounts they shipped. But that comes with a trade off. If you are using a Shaker setup it may or may not sit right (I am dual snorkel right now). Also if you are using PS it may interfer with booster. Lastly the blower motor (again listed here) may be an issue. He asked me to send back whichever ones I do not use. They were very informative and not at all pissy about it, soimething you don't always find out there! For this reason alone I would but more aftermarket pieces from them. Pics to come

Wow, that's as close as my old 392 is in my Cuda, and the 392's are supposed to be quite a bit wider than the 426's.

Had all these problems with the Indy Maxx Aluminum block with Stage V heads and custom valve covers.  Everything hits everywhere, the passenger side shock tower, the power brake booster, the power steering box, tti headers, etc.

Decided to convert to Alterktion suspension to do away with power steering box.  Will be installing Alterktion suspension on October15, stay tuned for pics

excuse me if I'm totally off , I too am building a 71 hemi cuda, just got my motor yesterday.  I've been talked w/ Ben @ Shakerhood.com today about K members, he advised if using a Shumaker engine conversion mount on a 340 K frame, the engine sits 1.5" lower than if K member is modified properly for Hemi.

I don't know if this is what you all are talking about, but if it is, maybe that's the problem.

Schumacher sent me new brackets that mount to engine. They let the engine sit approx .5 inch higher. He did tell me that with a Shaker hood it can be another potential problem (see above posts). But he was very accomodating, sent me new mounts with no questions asked.

Are you saying Shumaker has mount's to avoid K-member change, and will sit the shaker at the proper height?
