Fluid Capacity
« on: September 25, 2006 - 01:08:26 PM »
Would someone tell me how many bottles of 90w gear lube I'll need to refill my 4-speed manual. Sorry, not sure of what tranny I have, just need a ball park so I know how many to pickup on the way home. While I'm under there how would I be able to tell what model transmission it is?

book says 4 speed A-833 takes 7.5 pints "DEXTRON" type automatic Transmission fluid.   Thats from a '73 Dodge Chassis Service Manual  :clueless:

3speed calls for 4.7 pints, 4speed says 7pints. why would it take ATF, theres nothing hydraulic in there which would require hydraulic fluid...

Boy, when I drained the old fluid last night I thought someone had used mud to fill it with. It was way, way over due. Thanks for all the responses. I love this site, it's like having your own online service manual.
