Old Picture from Mopar Nats in 1984
« on: September 28, 2006 - 05:41:29 PM »
Well thanks to all of you I have decided to have my Cuda shipped to PA and begin my restoration this winter. It arrives tomorrow  :woohoo: :woo: :bananasmi and I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. While cleaning the garage and putting things away in the basement my wife found this picture of me and my cuda at the 1984 Mopar Nationals and then she found the dash plaque. I was one proud 16 year old. I will post next week after I make some progress this weekend with my car. Thanks again for all the support!

Hard to see, but no side pipes then?

The sidepipes came the next year. Sure brings back memories. I had my first date in that car. Since that was long before I met my wife and she is so supportive of my current project I guess I better stop "remembering" before I get in trouble.

1984 MOPAR Nats....other memories

...first time I ever saw a Panther Pink T/A, or even knew there was such a color....car was from Cincinnati, Oh. and the owners name was Dave L.

...more winged cars than I had ever seen in one place

...10K mile black one owner HEMICUDA....for sale for $10K....I thought he was nuts

...a guy tried to buy my Daytona for $12K and I thought he was nuts....when I got home and told my wife about the offer, she thought I was nuts for not taking the $$$....

...long line at the registration hotel that morning

...there were 8 of us in a caravan to the Nats that weekend....Chargers, Daytona, Superbird, Duster, Road Runner and an Imperial conv....we had a blast driving there

...there was a washed up Nascar driver there signing autographs (drove winged cars) but I don't remember his name....maybe Buddy Arrington, not sure ???

and I was only 32 years old.....TWICE AS OLD AS YOU  :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

Thats a great pic.  Have you ever seen the five star car videos DVDs?  They have DVDs of the Mopar Nats from back then.  I will have to look at my Cuda DVD from them to see if I recognize your car.

My dad and I were talking about that the other day. If we had bought 10 of those Hemicudas we could have retired now but we were like you and thought that $10,000 was crazy money. That was the first time I had seen the winged cars and thought they were the coolest  :ylsuper:

I wouldn't be able to sleep very well tonight if I were you.  :hyper: :hyper:   You'll have to start your restoration thread down in the Members Restoration Section so we can all watch it come together.  Very exciting!

...I would swear it was a 70 with Rally Wheels....but that was 23 years ago and I have looked at lots of MOPARS since then, it might have been a pink Duster  :roflsmiley:....I remember asking the guy to start the car so I could hear it idle....it drew a crowd of 20-30 people within a minute....wish many times I had bought that HEMICUDA....it was a killer car

cool pictures. Today my wife found my old photo album that I thought was lost forever. I had'nt seen it in probably 7 or 8 years. It has pics from '85 car craft nats and multiple years of monster mopar weekend. Also has pics of all my old cars.
