727 tailshafts

do BB 727 tailshafts come in long and short varieties?   is the BB and SB 727 tailshaft interchangeable?   does the 70 Chally use a long or short tailshaft????

Yes, they come in long and short.
All passenger cars came with the long one, short is in PU trucks and motor homes.
BB and SB are the same.
The biggest difference is the two tabs at the bottom of the tailhousing for the "slap stick" shifter bracket(present or not) and where the snap ring cover plate is.(bottom or the side, no bracket tabs/side cover plate shown)

Dont forget, in trucks, there are two types. The one pictured (the long one) will not fit an A body trans tunnel, because of the side port for rear bearing retainer clip. The pass car versions have the boss for the floor shift. Some trucks also have that one too, and it interchanges fine. The long one pictured should fit in a B or E tunnel, but will hit the floor tunnel on an A.
