Major progress- Update! 12-30-06 roof replaced, quarter off!
« on: October 02, 2006 - 09:12:37 PM »
Here is an update:

My roof is finally off the car! It took almost 1 week of a little time here and there to make it happen. It also took 3 stitches- seriously.
Not bad. Here's the links:

If you poke around on my site for a bit you will see some pretty good before and after shots. The passenger side fender looks like it got hit with a shotgun. In another photo you will see it all planised out, minus a small area over a structural support.
Just hard work.

Next- disembowel a donor roof, pull the driver's quarter, patch the tail panel.

not bad for 2 month2 of work.

Looks good man!  I am thinking about doing the same to mine so I can get at the rust underneath.  What did you use to break all of the spot welds?

I used a 3/8 rota broach bit - It's a spot-weld cutter. I highly recommend this method. It's easy to tack weld panels back in place. For the price of the rota-broach kit - 70 bucks, its worth it's weight in gold.

You will never see my seams, you will never see my welds. Only I will know they are there.

kinda sneaky? No - just a way to keep if as OE looking as possible.

Stalled out. I have to sell off the other car to fund this one. Just peel off the bad stuff and wait for the good.

Oh well. NO cash, no carry.
