    trim restoration--where?

    Anyone know of a reputable place to have the all the trim pieces restored? I’m talking about the polished metal pieces around the windshield, rear window, grille, and tail panel. Mine are dull, dinged, and have a bit of overspray from an older restoration.

    How long does it normally take and cost?

    There was an article in Mopar Muscle a few months ago about restoring trim.  I'll look for it when I get a chance.   :2thumbs:

    We did our own...it's not difficult.  It's very time consuming though. :dunno:

    You couldn't pay me enough to be in that business!  :grinno: That buffer can rip something out of your hands before you know it.  Don't ask me how I know....but after having to find another $125 peice of trim...I know.   :icon16:

    Just a strong buffer wheel and some stainless polishing compound.  Wear gloves and glasses and hold on tight!

    a fella near me does a really nice job on stainless trim, ect.   his name   Arden Kyer. 440 926 2979

    The problem with doing your own is that when you buff, the anodizing finish gets burned off also. And your finsh product
    will never look the same as the rest. Anodizing is critical, and gives that sheen that no buffer or polishing can.

    Not too keen on doing my own. Buffed my friend's swing arm for a sport bike... not fun.

    Very true.  We only did our stainless.  The trunk trim and hood trim are all the anodized stuff.  Why they didn't do those in stainless, I'll never know.

    What if you have nicks, dings, scratches and such?  My headlight bezels for my 71' are kinda rough where it covers the front of the fender, ive tried buffing them but some of it is fairly deep, is it possible/safe to sand the trim and then buff it to take care of scratches?

    I came across a sight called tuffwheelrestoration.com.   they do all trim resto work, good prices,  seem very reputable, I haven't had them do mine yet but probably will. check em out. - 72 cudaguy     :2thumbs:
