Took the 'cuda on the drag stripe
« on: October 03, 2006 - 04:20:01 PM »
I was at a street legal drag racing event on the sept 23rd. My best time was 10.19 with a really bad reaction time 0.7 sec. It was 1/8 mile. This was my first time ever racing on a drag stripe.
You can see a video here: http://www.widing.biz/cuda/cudavsbmw.avi
The Avi file is 11.92 Mb, I don't have divx converter

Thanks guys! Well it is a normal street that is converted to a 1/8 drag strip for a day. We call it Street Legal. The car has to be registered as a street car. There are three classes Bracket (your best time), Street (index 8.70) and Bad Boys (index 7.70).

I run a close to stock 383, 727 b&m shift kit, 8-3/4 sure gripe. Need better tires as they didn't get tracktion before I was in 2nd gear.

The video is large (11.92 MB), so I would recoment download it, and npt streaming it. I just tested it and it works great in Media Player

Cool widing! Is that the event in Brummendal? Looks like alot of spectators!

Goody, there are no Dragstrips in Norway, exept one 1/4 track. Therefore the Street Legal events. Most of these events are held on airstrips dough. But some places they close a road. And in Brummendal they actualy race the main street trough the town, way cool!

Why??? Afraid you will break the car, go too slow, what? I can never understand why people don't try it. It's so much fun! Everyone is a newbie sometime. JUST DO IT!

Anyway...widing'cuda, that was a really cool video, and yeah, lots of spectators, wow!

I agree. My first time out i ran a 15.0 in late November. I'm now at 14.0 in the middle of August. I haven't touched the motor.  Fun stuff though!  :2thumbs:

Ok, now given that. How many guys are running sprayers in the wheel wells and a bottle of VHT in the trunk? I know I would.  :grinyes:

Yes it was at Brumundal jvike. There were lots of spectators, and all kinds of cars. 3 'Cudas, 1 70 440 and a 71 Hemicuda clone and mine. I have to add that it had rain the day I was racing so the track wasn't that good. Geting tracktion was really hard. So I'll see how it will go next summer. For those of you that haven't tried it; you really should. You don't have to beat the hell out of the car (I didn't). But you get great thrill waiting for that green signal and hiting the throttle :ylsuper:
