...yesterday, while having lunch at the diner, an old friend of mine stopped in just to tell me about this Challenger R/T convertible for sale...sort of a friend of a friend type deal and the owner of the car was asking $10,500 for it...I knew the car from the mid 1980s, but thought it had been destroyed many years ago...I choked down my lunch and went to find the "car in the barn"....sure enough, the owner answered the door and was most willing to show me the "old girl"....he said a guy was wanting to buy it, but was trying to get the price down lower than he was willing to sell it for....I told him I would take it for his price, which really was a little higher than the $10,500 (not much) and NOWHERE near market price of this vehicle...he wanted to let the other guy have one last shot at the car but he wouldn't pay the asking price, so this morning I went to pick up the car and bring her home...

...1970 Challenger R/T conv (JS27N0B), the only year they were made...approximately 1,100 manufactured (not sure of the exact figure yet)

383 CI., AT, matching numbers from one end to the other and originally Lime , 107K miles...always a hometown car and I am the 4th owner, the last owner kept it nearly 20 years...

...it has the typical rust problems associated with a midwest E-Body, but it drives good and everything works except the gas gauge....all will be taken care of in due time and the car will be fully restored

...what amazes me is the other guy wouldn't meet the price and was still trying to get a better deal....he should have bought the car immediately and I never would have had the chance...it even has a few extra NOS parts that came with it....

thanx Barry, I'll check it out ASAP....I doubt the interior has ever been out of the car, should be there if they ever were there...

...do you know how many total RT convertibles were made ???....I think the guy said 1161 or 1167, but I don't know where he got his info ???

...thanks, I am VERY happy with the deal .....

.....I doubt the car will ever be sold again....my son is also becoming a MOPAR fanatic so the Challengers will all probably stay in the family...
