Help - Fuel Pump Mounting Location
« on: October 07, 2006 - 08:34:31 PM »
I bought a Mallory electric pump and filter. Anybody got pics of how they mounted it? I was thinking of hanging them both from the left frame rail.  I have a stock tank and rear sway bar.

Thks. Did you run tubing from the tank pickup across to the filter?

Matt , did you go with model 110? That is the one I am planning on buying and I am curious if you like it or not.

I went with the 140.  Ask me in a week or so after I get it running.  I did run it momentarily and it seems like a quiet pump.

I ran the 110 for a year or so, and LOVED it!  :bigshades:  Quiet, and no troubles. It was rated at 7 PSI, but I had to use a regulator because my fuel pressure gauge was reading 11 PSI. No biggie. I have to ask matt63, why are you going with the 140? That is one SERIOUS fuel pump.  :22yikes:  :burnout:

I know its not a Mopar but I wanted to post a pic of something you all might want to do.  I put a 1/2" hand check valve between the tank and the filter/pump so that I could change the fuel filter more easily and if all fails I can shut gas off quickly as well.

I don't have a good answer for that.  It's what the guy at the parts store sold me! :icon16:

I mounted the pump on the drivers side frame rail between the tail pipe and the spring.  I used the existing 7/16 tapped holes.  I think I will mount the filter in the tunnel above the axle.  I'll send pics when it's installed.

Mike, don't know if you're aware of it, but NHRA rules limit rubber fuel line to a total of 12" in the system. If you have more than that and the tech inspector is picky they won't let you run.

I'm told that this doesn't hold true if you are using the Aeroquip blue hose and fittings but I'm not too sure on this.  I just paid $23 for an elbow so I sure hope it's good!
