Add-on Power Locks

I had my windows out for replacement yesterday so I decided to show you how I mounted my power lock actuators. These are the common kits that sell on Ebay for $20. There is a control module that closes the other side if one side is locked, so you don't have to mount the included lock/unlock switch and can be hooked directly to your alarm or remote so keys aren't needed to scratch your paint around your door handle. The pics show how I mounted them with the last one showing the visible outside mounting screws.

I had the window and hardware out for cleaning and greasing so the door was hollow.  The Lock kits are the universal 2-door systems like the one linked below for $10.

Thanks for the pics, do the stock lock actuators still work after the conversion?  I thought you said they did before, but the arms don't look hooked up in the photos, or maybe I just missed it.

I see now, they attach to the key lock arms, not the actuator arms.  I like this.

Those look great, Rob!!!   That's definitely something to look into possibly doing later on.

They do work very well.  For those of you with 1970 models, you have to change your door latches to a '71 or later if you want to be able to LOCK BEFORE you close the doors.     With a remote, it wont really matter but I'm used to locking my doors on the way out, not after closing the door.

Any reason you couldn't mount actuator to reinforcement panel inside door (up and to the right in your pic)?  Looking for options that don't require drilling through end of door.

You can mount those actuators anywhere that you find room but remember, there is a window in there that hos to be able to go up and down without any interference.  You'll see what I mean if you look down into your door.

Don't forget my post above about the "1970" door latches. They will not lock before you close the door. You either lock them with a remote after you close the doors or upgrade your latches to a 1971 & up latches from newer e-body doors like I did.

I mounted mine on the panel along the door lock lever, no clearance issues, just had to bend the rod in an offset to line up correctly.

That is a cool add-on. Cheap too which is always a bonus.  What remote kit/switch mechanism did you use?
