Chat Room Help

Alright guys (and gals), time for the stupid question of the week! For this week's question:

I just got my new college laptop and cannot access the chat. Instead of a chat window, I get the infamous "outline-and-box-with-red-"X"-in-the-top-left". How can I go about remedying this problem, thus greatly disadvantaging the professors of my Wednesday classes.

It runs on Javascript.  Go to www.java.com and download the software.  If you're running Windows, usually Internet Explorer prompts you for these type of plugins.  Make sure you run Windows Update to get all the latest security features and such.

Also, depending on your internet security settings, you may need to disable the pop up blocker and ad blocker to be able to access chat.
