A383,
Your car is beautiful.  I hope you get what you are asking for it.  I do not undersatnd why some people have to always tell someone their car is not worth what they are asking for it.  This part of the board is for cars that are for sale.  I wish people would respect other people and not cut them down whan they are selling their car.  You do not call someone on the phone and tell them their car is priced too high so why do people have to say that on a message board.  Rant off.  That is just one of my pet peeves.  When we sold our other 71 Cuda's we were told the same thing.  But guess what, we sold them for what we were asking for them.
Have you tried putting your car on Cuda World or Cars-on-Line?  Good luck, your car is beautiful.

I agree, if u don't want the car don't slam someone's price.  Try restoring these cars - not cheap -

Good luck with the sale,  Cars-on-line.com is a great site with cars usually priced accordingly.  Lots of proven sales there.

I appreciate the kind words. What he may not have taken into account is that the car has an actual 48,000 miles on it with a rust free and pristine body. The car is a documented 1 of 79 built. Now some would say I should have added the gills. I actually went back and forth on this very issue. But I decided to leave the fenders as they came from the factory because they are mint factory 71 fenders correct for a 1 of 79 car. It would make more sense to go with aftemarket repops and add the gills than to ruin these. If I were to keep the car and someday have it repainted (doesn't need it now), perhaps that would become a serious consideration. As for the grill, yes the insides of the teeth should be argent. This could be easily done in an afternoon. What's important once again is that it is a factory issue 1971 grill in excellent shape. This is an original car with original parts, not reproductions. There are many who would place a premium on it for that very reason. Anyone taking the time to learn about the Gran Coupes would also realize that this one has the top of the line motor and performance options available in this line. It is also loaded with all of the creature comforts you'd want as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the other sites, I'll take a look at them.

I just looked at the one on CudaWorld.com, it's a 318 car. It also has the overhead console but no floor console?! Kind of strange. Anyways they aren't quite the same. This is an original big block car with the Hemi suspension from the factory. That'd be like telling a Hemi Cuda owner that his car is over priced because you could buy my car for half of his price. I hate to break it to you, but engines and rarity do command a higher price. If they didn't we'd all have Hemis.

It may be cliche but ... The car is worth what someone will pay for it.  If someone will pay $60K then it is worth it to that person anyway.  I will say that the 1 of 79 is not really an indicator of rareness or value (to me anyway).  Like someone said, to be valuable it must be rare and desirable.  Rareness alone doesn't usually equate to value.  If you take all of the option types and options within each type and do the math, there are not large populations of cars configured exactly the same way.  If it was a Hemi or 6 pack car with desirable options, color, etc. then I would agree.  I even some 1 on none's out there!  Ebay for example.

A383Cuda.... email sent.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

A slower market is what we are in.  That does not mean you will not get your price. It just may take longer.  I'm not going to get into the price.  From what I have seen it is a very nice car.  From restoring over 20 Ebodys I do know that an original low mileage car is worth a premium. Add to that it is a Grand Coupe with an original NOM big block and you have a rare piece.  They'll eat it up at the auction.  :2cents:

Reducing price to $55,000 OBO. Had a guy come by and check out the car. I thought fr sure he was a buyer. Went through it with a fine tooth comb, verifying numbers, stampings, etc. Turns out he helps to promote one of the big auctions in Phoenix and wants to feature the car in January's auction. Sounds great, but if I can sell the car before then and save commissions, that would be better. I'm negotiable and open to trades guys.

I agree, the market is soft. It only seems specific Cudas / not clones are still bringing big $$. Grand coupes are real nice.. but not bringing #'s match cuda $$.

I don't believe that car would bring 50k on the bay.. it's got too much competition at that range & below. JMHO Needless to say, It'a fantastic lookin ride.. NO DOUBTS.

Originally I posted the car with no price. I was hoping someone would make an offer I could live with. People started guessing what it was worth. The guesses ranged from 45-100+ thousand. I came back and said I had it advertised elsewhere at 60K. All of a sudden everyone starts telling me a different story.  :dunno: A 318 BH model with a transplanted 383 sold on ebay a week ago at 50K. Certainly I believe this documented 1 of 79 big block 383 car with it's low mileage has to be comparable. So let's do this...... If anyone is truly interested in PURCHASING this car, please email me an offer and I'd be happy to give it consideration. Geeez, I thought the Corvette people were bad.  ;) Perhaps parting it out may be the way to go. Original parts in great shape have to be worth a premium.

I'd pay 50-55K for it any day if I was in the market. I looked at a few 71 340 cars up here that were numbers matching, but not as rare and the prices ranged from 70-85K.

Was the Phoenix auction Barrett-Jackson? If so, the extra money that a venue like that provides might offset the commission, though it doesn't do anything about getting money now.

Personally, I think people are hesitant because they are afraid that the car might actually be a blue low rider, with curb feelers and gold rims... ;D ::)
