Need your Advice
« on: October 15, 2006 - 12:26:38 PM »
Well two days after winning Best Of Show with my 67 GTX I received a serious offer to sell it.
I need to answer two questions: 1st. DO I Sell IT?   2nd-- How Much? I am not going to tell you what the offer was because I want your opinion. Let me tell you alittle about the car. Bought in 1992 restored by 1994.  Car is a 440-Console Automatic. All numbers and date codes are correct. Judged in the first Carlisle C.S.O. by Roger Gibson & Galen and 10 other top experts at the time. Engine compartment scored 1638 point out of a perfect 1750 point. Deductions were mostly because of wrong finished on parts. I used alot of clear coat back then. Car was written up in two national mopar magazines. Over 25 First Place Trophies from local and national shows. Most 67 GTX's and R/T  sell between $20,000.00 and $ 25,000 on ebay and are not as correct as my car. I have seen some with buy it now prices of $55,000 and $60,000 but of course these guys are all smoking Crack !!! and naturally get no bids.
I have attached some pic's to help out in your decision. Question number 1 only I can decide but you all can help me out with question number two.
Thanks in advance for you time and help.
Remember be realistic not Barrett-Jackson prices.

js27,

I'll be impolite, and answer your questions with more questions.  How attached are you to the car? Does that make and model "do it" for you? In other words, would you take the money and go out and buy another 67 GTX?

  I know it's a tough choice.  :grinyes:

JS, it's most definetly a nice car. I think you need to start thinking about the "crack" prices you were mentioning before letting it go.

Yes the 67 GTX does do it for me. My first real car out of high school was a 67 GTX.  No I would not go out and buy another one. I would most likely buy a rust free 67 Belvedere and clone it into a GTX but  one I would update and drive alot more. I could also use some of the money to put the finishing touches on my 70 R/T.

Try to find another that you think is of the same standards as your car.

Sounds like you are not "in love" with the car (too nice maybe ,afraid to drive it?) I say sell it and make one exactly like what you want. :2cents:

If it's an issue where you hate to drive it because of it's value, then I would agree with selling and making a clone that you could enjoy more. Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who would rather drive the car than look at it. I appreciate all the trailer queens for what they represent, but I would need to do more than just look at it all the time. That's just me.  Just my opinion.  :2cents:

Any serious offer I have for either my challenger conv or 69 camaro conv, I would sell and replace it with another, even if I had to come out of pocket for a few dollars more. :money:
