I don't have a crystal ball, but the next big thing in muscle car prices will be the cars from the 80's. The GN turbo Buicks, 89 Turbo Trans am and GTA, GMC Typhon, and Cyclone trucks, IROC Z28, 5.0 Mustangs coupe ext. I may have forgot a few but you get my point.
These were low production, just like our e-body cars and it's getting very hard to find good ones.  It may take another 10 or 12 years, but they will be up for big $$!

Some of the Shelby cars from the 80's GLH omni, the Daytona, Chargers some are quite rare and bring good prices. even the Mitzubishi Stealth in Dodge clothes. RT twin turbo, all wheel drive all wheel steer 5 and 6 speed.
1965 barracuda. Was 273/2 904 car had 440 360 in plans

There were a few hot cars and trucks that came out of the 80's, most of them were GM. I remember reading in Hot Rod Magazine a road test of a new GMC Syclone truck. They had the truck for a day and it was raining. They took the truck to a drag strip, and ran in the high 13's in the rain! Syclones were AWD, which helped but in the late 80's that was amazing.

If I remember correctly didn't a car magazine compare the Cyclone stats to a Ferrari of some sort?  I thought that was a cool coparison.

good stuff here, but some "chicken little" syndrome going on :bricks1:

the next time you are on the freeway, scan the cars in the other lanes up ahead.
a lot of blah, sameness, drab colors etc..You can't tell 'em apart and who cares? They have no Soul.

Now, (as you are still driving), picture a variety of different colored mopars, chevy's, ford's
(big/small whatever) easily identifiable makes from the mid '60's to early '70's in their place...
those cars had Soul. That's the difference.
They were built by people, not robots.

Now go out and enjoy your car(s)  :burnout: Everythings gonna be fine.

There is a great line in the movie Sin City by Micky Rorke.. He says..modern cars all look like electric shavers. This is true when you think about it, maybe that's why the new Charger is selling so well, it looks like a car.

Now go out and enjoy your car(s)  :burnout: Everythings gonna be fine.

:iagree:  That's exactly how I feel.  Just my opinion but the cars now a day don't flip my cookie the way these old cars do.   :grinyes:

Soul, that's a great way to put it!

They just don't stir the passion in my heart.  I like the "fantasy highway" you mentioned.  I love driving around on the highway then see a few muscle cars cruising by.  It just makes my day!

If you really want to experience this in real life, then you have to go on the Hot Rod Power Tour.  It is a week of antique cars from all backgrounds driving from town to town.  I went on part of the trip this year and I plan to go the whole distance in 2007.  The only bad part is the gas money.

I would assume that in your hypothesis there that we are not driving a Mopar, because we would be checking out the Chevys and Furds in the lanes up behind us.

Yes..you're in your commuter. And no matter how many cars you pass..there'll always be more ahead

the point is/was that it doesn't matter what the mfr.,
it could be a clean El Camino or a nice Torino mixed in with the commute cars..they'll stand out.

Throw in a High impact colored Mopar and accidents may occur from the gawkers !!

Cody....

...I understand the new cars vs the old car market (currently own 4 Vipers, etc etc).....while the "NEW MUSCLE" has been arriving on the scene during the last decade, "OLD MOPAR MUscle" has exploded pricewise, many entering the 7 figure price range...people aren't paying millions for a HEMICUDA convertible because there is nothing new to drive...if your argument held true, the MONA LISA wouldn't be valuable because there are new prints (copys) at WMart....

performance wise, I have a new Jeep SRT8 that will run away from any HEMI MOPAR of it's day.....but you don't see people dumping HEMICUDAs to buy Jeeps....life isn't all all about how fast you can go.....it's about "how you get there"

...a decade from now, people will be looking for the elusive VIPER GTS/ACR ...with around a thousand built and many raced to death, we will have the HEMICUDA all over again.....I have driven my friends 900RWHP Viper on the street(first 9 second street Viper in the world), and again,  the prices of "MOPAR Muscle" didn't crumble that day...

...muscle cars have quite a long run left for appreciation, it ain't over yet

I agree. They don't make the old ones anymore and a well done car will always be worth good money.

I think the reason the lower quality cars have come up in value is that a high quality car is getting hard to find at any price. I wouldn't be surprised if the new Challenger wiped out the below 20k price market of Cuda and Challengers. We'll have to wait and see.
