That is funny how out of touch some people really are. So he was going to spare his nice Caprice from the winter and drive around in a "Yeller Plymouth" - Lol.

Fortunately, I haven't really been asked if my car was for sale...Then again, not too many people know what I have sitting back home in the three car garage.  I can only imagine how many rediculous offers I'll get when I finally get it on the roads again.. ::)
For offers in general, I went with a friend of mine to the 'Nats this past year and we were hitting up Brice Road during the wild time. (Friday night)  I was closest to the "curb watchers" and some woman told us to do a burnout there.  Well, cops were all over the place and we already saw them hassle some guy about 20 minutes earlier, so I told her "Not unless we got some cash for the ticket."  She was drinking and thought I said something else and replied she'd be willing to show us some *** if we went through with it. :scared: :puke: (that kinda sums up the incident.)

Madmax we had a similar offer at our parts counter last month. But it was for a lot less than a whole car! And it was a woman that made the offer...  :grinyes:

The strangest car related offer for me was from a guy with a 1970 Nova SS 396. He offered to race me title for title. I was in my '68 Barracuda fast back  with a built 440-6, four speed and 10" wide rear tires at the time. I told him "No thanks". He said "Why, are you a (can not repeat here)". I said no, that I had owned a Chevy once and did ever want another one. His jaw dropped and he had nothing else to say.

I also had a local pilot offer to trade his wife for my collection of Alaskan float plane photos. I still have the photos.  :picture:

When I first got my Challenger to Ill Annoy (complete except for the grille at the time) I had to leave it parked out front for a few days till the weekend rolled around.  A neighbor offered to trade an (AMF) Harley Davidson for it; thanks but no thanks.  Even a real Harley... I'm not a motorcycle kind of person.  Plus there's that 'first car' thing; the Challenger would be one of the last three or four things to go if we ever had to liquidate.

Another fellow still emails me once every year or so to ask about the Cougar mag rims on it.  If I ever get time to buy some junkyard rims for it, I'll probably let the Mercury wheel go.

I had my 6 pack Challenger on a rotisserie and rolled it outside to clean out the garage. A scrapper stopped by and offered to tow it off for free.

I get offers to buy my car every time I take it out, and it's not really in that good shape. The most ridiculously low offer, recently at least, was a guy at a stop light who yelled that he'd give me $500 for her, and told me that it wasn't really running well enough to justify any more. That was the first time I've smoked the tires with the new engine, trans and axle.

A long time ago, when the going price for a 72-74 was about $1,000 if it was in really good shape, I had an offer for $5,000. Every body panel at the time was bent or rusted. I told him that even though I would  never sell my car that that offer was outrageously high, and unless he wanted to be taken for a ride he should lower his offers, but he said he loved Challengers so much he had to have one.  I sincerely hope that guy found an e-body somewhere.
