Need Suggestions On Upgrading 340 intake???
« on: October 17, 2006 - 10:19:21 AM »
I recently put a new Engle Hyd Cam (K58) in this summer and still have the original (stock) intake manifold on my 71 Cuda 340 4-Speed with a newly rebuild Thermoquad Carb (all works pretty well together).....I would like to maybe upgrade my intake manifold if there is a better one out there as to performance ??? ???...I want to still be able to use my TQ carb and it obviously has that hot air choke outfit with the rod..etc....so.....I guess I will need that outlet for the choke on any new manifold that will be useable :clueless: :clueless:
As Always....any ideas will be much appreciated.......Thanks Very Much!!!

I agree the LD340 is a great manifold, as is the Performer RPM,  IF you have room for it...FWIW the factory iron intakes are pretty good with the 71 Thermoquad intake being the best stock intake period...

Anybody have a opinion on the Wieand 8007 dual plane. I have one on the car now. It looks real close to the LD340. Thanks...

The Ed. Performer Rpm is great, but will it accaept the TQ?  And if you are going to a RPM, then get the Air Gap.

Will all / any of the mentioned intakes, other that the stock one. work with my current hot air choke outfit that needs a spot to bolt onto the manifold itself :clueless: :clueless:
Thanks  "Tim"

The only one that has a spot is the LD340, & it has a spot for a old chevrolet bimetallic choke unit that you'll have to custom bend a link for...Most people either convert to electric, or eliminate the choke entirely...

some of the aftermarket thermoquad "superquad" were setup with an electric choke, you might find one at a swap meet. Not sure what you would need to swap it over though
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....
