    Hey ya'll.
    I have a friend with a '71 Charger R/T,, OK TORRED4SPEED, before you say it,,, yes,,, I have friends... Didn't know you were one of them, now didcha...?

    Anywho, my "friend" with the '71 is looking to install the 727 overdrive unit from Gear Venders. They say it's pretty much a bolt-in operation.. Yeah, right.. I hear one has to modify the floorpan hump in order to get clearance.. Has anyone here done it and if so, what mod's did you have to do? Sort of uneasy thinking of having to take a sledgehammer to the thing to "make" clearance..

    I know we are talking about a Charger here, but it appears all the bugs haven't quite been taken out of the system for the GV unit to work on a 727. NZ is the guinea pig for that experiment.  :grinyes:

    Yupe, I've emailed Troy to give him a run down.

    Just to confirm, it's not the stock unit that's faulty, the *new auto-shift unit.
    The stock unit is fine, faultless, but the shifts aren't as smooth as you need to manually disengage the OD where-as the auto-shift (as the name suggests) takes OD out for you between gears resulting in short crisp shifts.

    Glad I could help you earlier, as I said email or PM or post and I'll try and help anyway I can.
    Mine is finally drivable, I pick Lucy up tomorrow.....then it's just a waiting game on GVs to build the new and improved module units.

    Happy to hear that Lucy's let loose on the streets again!

    I postphoned my purchase of a GV because of your troubles, and now i'm thinking that maybe it's time to consider it next year.

     Hi guy's,

     I'm Andy,The guy Troy is talking about ref. the GearVenders for my Charger.  I want to thank Troy for digging up some great info and the rest of you for the responses. I already have the unit and the install won't be done until after the holidays but, I will update the results as soon as it's done. The unit came with the electronics that have the on/off toggle switch. I'm hoping this is the correct one the NZ440R/T spoke of. I'm hoping this will be a relatively painless project (yeah right, :-[ not) lol

     Anyway, thanks again guy's.
