It's not my car, and really I am not offended by the comments. I am just the messenger, please don't shoot.
I think is very good to talk about these cars, I welcome hearing other peoples views. Unfortunately to me, rebodies have been part of the hobby for along time...I can remember hearing about guys grabbing southern shells in the early 1980's in Southern Ontario and switching VIN's over, luckily back then everyone wasn't educated in the other differences between cars so they were easy to spot. Nowadays you'd have to be pretty clever to spot a well done rebody. I am not absolutely positive I could. I usually view each and every car with some scepticism. And that sucks
If I was buying a high dollar car I'd prefer an untouched original over a fresh resto just for those reasons.
If I had the space and the $$$ I'd buy up a few of these type cars and put them on display as is...this car from Carlisle got me started:
It doesn't look too bad in the pics but it was "run hard and put away wet" it was really rough, to me to far gone to fix but too cool to scrap! I would love to see it inside on display...it would make quite the conversation piece parked say beside your mint T/A Challenger or whatever.
